The part III Chapter III of Kamasutra illustrates that in the case of a poor man possessing good qualities, man born in a low family with mediocre qualities, a neighbor possessed of wealth, or one who is under the control of his family members, should not marry without attempting to impress the girl from her childhood to love and respect him. Thus a boy separated from his parents, or living in his uncle`s house, should try to impress the daughter of his uncle, or some other girl, whether the girl is engaged with someone or not. According to Ghotakamukha, this practice is unexceptional, because Dharma can be accomplished by means of it or by any other way of marriage.

There are some of ways which a boy uses, to flatter the girl he loves, he spend some quality time with her by playing different games like picking and collecting flowers, making garlands of flowers, cooking food, playing with dice, playing with cards, the game of odd and even, the game of finding out the middle finger, the game of six pebbles, or some other games prevalent at that time and which suits the nature of the girl. He can also play some other games with the girl, her friends or female attendants like hide and seek, playing with seeds, hiding things in several small heaps of wheat and looking for them, blind man`s buff, gymnastic exercises, etc. The man shows great compassion towards a trusted woman who lives with the girl or girl`s nurse. Kamasutra affirms the fact that the man should also show kindness to the woman with whom the girl is close.

Vatsayana`s Kamasutra in this chapter therefore suggests the man to impress the girl. The man does all the things, which the girl likes most, and gives her the things that she is craving. He gives her such playthings, which are hardly known to other girls. He can gives her a ball dyed with various colors, dolls made of cloth, wood, buffalo-horn, wax, flour, or earth; also utensils for cooking food, figures in wood, such as a man and woman standing, a pair of rams, goats, or sheep; also temples made of earth, bamboo, or wood, dedicated to various goddesses; and cages for parrots, cuckoos, starlings, quails, cocks, and partridges; water-vessels of different sorts and of elegant forms, machines for throwing water about, guitars, stands for putting images upon, stools, lac, red arsenic, yellow ointment, vermilion and collyrium, as well as sandalwood, saffron, betel nut and betel leaves.

These things which are liked by the girls is given by the man at different times whenever he gets a good opportunity of meeting her, some are given in private, and some in public. Thus the whole process is for her to make her own and give her love in every possible manner.

Following to these actions he then meets the girl in some private place and tells her reason of giving the presents privately is the fear of her parents and also tells about his gifts that they are very precious. He can try to impress her by some tricks of jugglary and also some special arts in which he can show his own skill. Then they practice some singing and dancing. There are some proper occasions on which the man gives her bouquet of flowers or garland of flowers like when they are going together to moonlight fairs and festivals, or at the time when she is returning home after a long time. Sometimes he teaches all the sixty-four arts practiced by men to the daughter of the girl`s nurse, and under this excuse also inform her of his great skill in the art of sexual enjoyment. All this time he wears a fine dress, and makes a pleasing appearance all through. This can concluded as young women love men who live with them, and are handsome, good looking and well dressed.

According to Kamasutra a girl always shows her love by noticeable signs and actions, which is explained as below:
She never looks at the man directly and also feels shy when looked by him. She shows her limbs to him by any excuse, she looks secretly at him when he is away. She answered in indistinct or indistinguishable words when asked some question by him, and delights to be in his company for a long time. With a view to attract him she usually speaks to her attendants in a peculiar tone, she does not want to leave the place where he is, sometimes she tells stories to him very slowly in order to spend more time with him, she kisses and embraces the girl sitting in her lap in front of him, she draws ornamental marks on the foreheads of her female servants or behave in a sportive and graceful manner. She shows respect to her lover`s friend and kindness to his servants, she converses with them and tells them to work for her as if she is their mistress. She listens to the stories told by the servant`s about her lover to somebody else. She doesn`t like to make her seen when she is not dressed or decorated properly. She sends her female friend to give the ear ornament, ring or garland of flowers to her lover what he has asked. She always wears something, which is presented by her lover. Becomes depressed when her parents compile her to marry someone else and does not mix with him.

Kamasutra has limned a verse on the subject as follows:
`A man, who has seen and perceived the feelings of the girl towards him, and who has noticed the outward signs and movements by which those feelings are expressed, should do everything in his power to effect a union with her. He should gain over a young girl by childlike sports, a damsel come of age by his skill in the arts, and a girl that loves him by having recourse to persons in whom she confides.`
